Two Monongalia County schools were placed in the top five for US News Best High Schools in West Virginia.
Students are assessed through state tests to get the rankings.
Morgantown High School came in second place and University High School came in at fourth. Both received silver medals.
UHS attributes the success to the strength in students, teachers and its advanced placement program.
"Not only meet the needs of our students but push them to higher levels. We also have supports in place for students who struggle. It's kind of the whole picture for us it's not just about looking at one subset of students, it's about looking at every student and taking them where they are and helping them to succeed academically," said Shari Burgess, UHS Principal.
Fairmont Senior, East Fairmont, and Bridgeport High Schools also made the top 10.
