    The West Virginia Child Advocacy Network and West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence are getting help from Verizon's HopeLine program to help those affected by domestic violence and child abuse.

Downtown Parkersburg's historic The Blennerhassett Hotel announced Feb. 4 it became the first independent hotel in West Virginia to join Stash Hotel Rewards, which is the nation's largest point-based rewards program for independent hotels.

"Parkersburg continues to experience significant growth in the business sector, and therefore, an increase in frequent business travelers," Cecil Childress, general manager at The Blennerhassett Hotel said in a news release. "As an independent hotel, it's important to remain competitive in the growing marketplace, and Stash provides us with the opportunity to do just that.

"With Stash we can now capture the attention of frequent business travelers by coupling a rewards program with our unique experience and exceptional service."

The hotel opened its doors in 1889 and still offers its guests a boutique hotel experience as well as the modern conveniences they expect, including a business center, fitness facilities, large meeting space and Spats Restaurant & Lounge.

"It's as if you've been transported back to the early 1900s era, but with lattes and free wireless," said Stash Hotel Rewards founder and CEO Jeff Low. "Catch up on emails in the heritage library, sleep in a guestroom in a red brick turret — The Blennerhassett Hotel offers a bit of history without compromising the upscale services business travelers expect."
