Four West Virginia elementary schools celebrated, "Digital Learning Day." Norwood Elementary School in Stonewood was one of the schools that chose to celebrate.
The schools connected through video chatting and learned different things about the state from Teacher of the Year, Erin Sponaugle.
Digital Learning Day isn't the only time the students learn through technology.
"Our students are immersed in technology here at Norwood so it enhances what they already learned and what they are already doing. We use our distance lab a lot here. We've connected with the Smithsonian and done a lot of digital field trips," said Principal Dora Stutler.
A lot of students today are extremely familiar with the digital world through education.
She explained, "They are growing up with this technology and that's the way they learn. We need to integrate technology into their curriculum every day because that's where they are and that's where they learn. They're excited to do it, it engages them, and we were excited to participate today."
Schools from Kanawha, Raleigh, and Mingo counties also participated.
