An Ohio company has filed paperwork to being operating the hydropower facility at Stonewall Jackson Dam.
Mahoning Hydropower, LLC filed paperwork with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to assess the possibility of bringing equipment online there.
That equipment is already in place, and county authorities say it's a project that's been on the books for a while.
"The Stonewall Jackson Dam and reservoir was always built with the idea of the availability to produce electric, and so if that comes to fruition, that'd be great," said Lewis County Commissioner Pat Boyle.
