West Virginia Wesleyan Hires New Marching Band Director

Posted: Updated:

West Virginia Wesleyan College has hired a band director for its marching band.

Logan Lindsey will head the college's revived marching band.

The college is re-establishing a marching band this fall after a 35-year absence.

Lindsey has directed and performed marching band, jazz, and classical music in many venues.

"We are pleased to have Logan join our College community," said Vice President for Enrollment Management Bernie Valento. "He is a highly talented musician, composer, and director with considerable experience. His vision, strong leadership skills, and commitment to student success make him a wonderful fit."

"Above all, I value the dedication of students to the family atmosphere of the band so we can build a standard of community, traditions, and entertaining performances," said Lindsey. "In turn, I will dedicate myself to the success of the students in their academic careers so we have them as lifelong members of the band.

Lindsey has been involved in the direct success of several high school and collegiate marching bands. His strong skills in this area led him to start his own drill writing and music arranging

business that operates every summer for numerous high schools and universities.

Lindsey frequently appears with Bonerama (Jazz/Rock/Funk group based out of New Orleans),
regional orchestras, the Danger Seekers (Appalachian Funk), The Roots Crew (house band
for "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon"), and many others in addition to being a performing guest
soloist at many colleges and universities.

In the past, Lindsey has performed in orchestras or combos with artists such as Wycliffe Gordon, Yo-Yo Ma, Placido Domingo, Doc Severinson, Joshua Bell, and many others.
