The North Central West Virginia chapter of the national group Bereaved Parents held its first meeting of the year in Bridgeport on Sunday.
The chapter was founded by Melanie and Matthew Groves after their son, Thomas, passed away three years ago.
The Groves said losing a child is something that not many people can relate to, so they want those who have suffered that loss to know they're not alone.
"We're trying very hard to let everybody know, we're here, we're free," said Melanie.
"When you come into our group, you can tell us how you feel, and I bet somebody at that table at that meeting is like, I know what you're talking about," said Matthew,
The meetings will be held monthly at the Bridgeport United Methodist Church.
