NIOSH Offers Ladder App to Help Workers

Posted: Updated:

NIOSH said that in 2009, more than 200,000 workers were seriously injured on the job due to falling.  Some of these falls happened while the workers were standing on ladders.

NIOSH created an app that may help people to be safer while they are working on ladders.

The application shows users what ladders are best for which jobs, and also how to properly use and set them up.

NIOSH said that using the app not only improved safety, but also helped with workers' productivity.

"We found that having the signal, a visual signal, sound and vibration, actually helped to position the ladder at the correct angle.  And at the same time they did it quicker," said Peter Simeonov from NIOSH.

The app is available on all Android and Apple phones in the app store, just search "Ladder Safety".
