The Upshur County Commission approved a motion to bring back a former employee of the sheriff's department.
Sheriff Dave Coffman said his department was down an officer for several months.
Then an officer retired last month, but that officer has changed his mind.
Virgil Miller was re-hired Thursday to serve as a chief deputy for administration, a position he was in prior to retirement.
Miller also served for several years as the county Sheriff.
"With this occurring in the last week, it's seemed like a ton of weight is off my shoulders. I think this is the right thing for the sheriff's department and the right thing for the people of Upshur County," said Sheriff Coffman.
Coffman said Miller will start tomorrow morning and that the department is now at full staff.
