Kelly's Irish Pub and Grill just opened a few months ago, but the location is historic for Clarksburg residents.
"It has always been a hub in Clarksburg," said Chef Sam Loretta.
When the restaurant reopened, they wanted to preserve some of the history.
"Some of our menus has been inspired. Like our Ruben sandwich, which was named after Pat, the former owner," Loretta added.
"We took some of the old menu from when it was PJ Kelly's before because we do have their old chef. So we have some of the old menu items as well as some of our own," said part-owner Briana Oliverio.
But, they did want to make some changes, like trying to make it more family friendly. Bartender and server Amy Cottrill said it's a nice change.
"There will be evenings where there are kids running around and families eating. Which is a really nice thing to have," Cottrill said.
"We wanted people to know that they could bring their kids in here and it would be okay,"adds
Customers have the opportunity to change meals almost however they want.
"There are lots of options on the menus as far as modifying something that is just standard. We have a Ruben with corned beef, but then we also have a turkey Ruben.....With any of the sandwiches on the menu you can also get as a wrap," Cottrill said.
Kelly's puts their own twist on some classics like bananas foster.
Loretta said they use a top quality ice cream with a vanilla bean in it. It also has rum and a sugar water mix that makes it syrupy and good.
Then, it's flamed on a fire, they sautee the bananas.
Finally, they take the mixture and pour it all over ice cold ice cream, then top it off with chocolate syrup.
They also have some specialties of their own, like the Fawsome Burger.
It has a homemade cheese sauce on it, then it's smothered in sauteed onions.
Put that and the meat patty on a toasted burger bun for what Chef Loretta called "a simple, but very good" burger.
Kelly's Irish Pub and Grill is located in Clarksburg on 3rd Street.
