With a new year comes a new president for the Marion County Commission, but the name is all too familiar.
The County Commission unanimously voted to name Butch Tennant as Commission President for 2014 and Randy Elliott as Vice President.
Tennant said it feels good to be back "in the middle chair" and has a lot of exciting things planned for the upcoming year.
"We all three work very well together so it makes it easy that way. We are all three very involved. I am involved very heavily in the community and I appreciate the gesture of the other two making me president again," said Tennant.
Tennant said the most exciting thing he is looking forward to this year is the continued revitalization of Palatine Park.
The Commission expressed concern about recent vandalism at the park.
The county recently invested $1 million to revitalize the park and said the behavior is "unacceptable".
Vandals destroyed a new picnic table and knocked over trash cans.
The Commission said security cameras will be installed in the coming months, and it will prosecute vandals.
