The Monongalia county commission had its first meeting of 2014.
The first call of business was electing Bill Bartolo as the commission's new president. He replaced Eldon Callen.
Bartolo said 2013 was the busiest year he's been apart of in his five previous years.
Last year the commission started several TIF projects, including a new baseball stadium and interchange. It also began broadcasting meetings.
"The people of Monongalia County should be excited about the progression and where we're going. At the same, we're now looking at sub-division developments and protecting people's property. It's been a great year for Monongalia County and I'm looking forward to more exciting programs," said Bartolo.
The county also revealed its findings on the after hours usage of the county's document room.
The commission said only four of the 30 lawyers with after hour access to the room used their key cards extensively in the past 77 days, and only 15 lawyers accessed it after hours at all.
The county is looking at changing the policy that allows lawyers into the room when the court house is closed due to security concerns.
In October, a man broke into the lower level of the courthouse.
The commission meets every Wednesday.
