The city of Clarksburg is going to be kicking off 2014 with some great improvements that city officials hope will last a lifetime.
Jackson Square in downtown Clarksburg is used for many local events year round, and the community and city council has made some vast improvements to the facade of Jackson Square by adding some new lighting.
Council member Patsy Tecost said Mayor Kathy Goings stepped up to the plate by following through with the administration to get the lights placed at Jackson Square.
"Its going to be beautiful down here; It's going to be a place where people feel good about themselves, and kind of an ambiance; the lights people love lights everybody likes it. We're hoping for no rain; we understand that there's not going to be for New Year's Eve so we feel like there will be a big crowd down here," said Trecost.
Goings will be on hand to officially light up Jackson Square Monday at 7:30 p.m. If you would like to rent out Jackson Square for one of your events you can contact City Hall at 304-624-1620.
