Marion County law enforcement is passing along a few last minute safety tips for those who are planning to be away from home for the holidays.
Deputies said there will be extra patrol through neighborhoods over the next couple of days. Law enforcement will take regular trips through the neighborhoods to make sure everything is in order.
There are a couple of things you can do too to ensure your home is untouched this holiday season.
Make sure your doors are locked, leave a light on, and even let your neighbors know you will be away.
Deputies said Neighborhood Watch Programs are extremely important, especially around the holiday season.
If you are aware of abnormal activity in the neighborhood, you could prevent break-ins and theft.
"If you band together and watch each others property and homes, it's a very crucial step for us," said Chief Deputy Ralph Wright, Marion County Sheriff's Department. "If your neighbor sees something and calls it in and you're not home, we are there. We will be there to check it out."
Marion County law enforcement has been investigating a number of break-ins that have been reported around the county.
