With only a few shopping days left until Christmas the Meadowbrook Mall is packed all day, every day.
"Traditionally the Saturday before Christmas is the busiest day of the year. We don't expect anything less today," said Robin Urquhart, marketing director.
It's called Super Saturday which is a major shopping day for retailers all across the United States.
It was no different at the Meadowbrook Mall. Urquhart said the last few weeks the mall has been packed with people.
"We have one less week before Christmas this year and shoppers are coming out in groves. All last week we were just packed, and I left last night at 6:30 p.m. and the mall was completely full," Urquhart said.
Urquhart said the mall pulls people from 14 counties in our area and that means a large number of people during the holidays.
"I'd say we see 10,000 to 15,000 people on a Christmas Saturday. Come Christmas time expect crowds when you shop on the weekends," Urquhart said.
The stores aren't the only places staying busy. Santa Claus has been getting a lot of business too.
"Santa Claus stays busy until Christmas Eve. The mall stays open until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and Santa will be here until 5 p.m," Urquhart said.
The mall has extended its hours so everyone can get that last minute shopping done.
"During the holiday season we always open a little earlier and close a little later. We're open the next few days from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. until Christmas Eve and then we're open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.," Urquhart said.
