Philippi Middle School Students have taken the school's upkeep into their own hands.
After athletic boosters spruced up the gym, students asked to help out.
With parental consent, students ahead on their school work helped paint hallways.
Principal David Neff says what started with a handful of students quickly took off.
"And from that point, it was just kid after kid asking 'can I help, how can I get involved?' So it kind of grew legs on its own and the kids really were excited about getting involved and helping make their school look nice," said Neff.
They completed their work Wednesday morning.
