Hundreds Attend Marion County Rescue Squad's Christmas Party

Posted: Updated:

The Marion County Rescue Squad hosted its annual Christmas Party at the Robert Mollohan building in White Hall on Friday.

More than one hundred people from Marion County and its surrounding counties came out to support the Rescue Squad and spread some holiday cheer.

Many state officials were in attendance tonight, including Secretary of State Natalie Tennant.

Senator Joe Manchin and Governor Earl Ray Tomblin were also expected to be in attendance.

Tennant said it was important to her to be at the Christmas Party for many reasons. She wanted to show her support as a former resident of Marion County and a West Virginian.

"We're getting ready to celebrate the holidays and these folks, many of these folks are still working while we have the security and feel secure that if an accident happens that they're going to be there for us," Tennant said. "They've decided and they have said that they would sacrifice for us to be there when we were in a time of need."

Tennant said it is also important that first responders continue to receive the best training and protective gear possible.

She said it is her job as Secretary of State to ensure they continue to receive the funding they need.
