Robert Eugene Siron, III, 31, of Weston has entered a guilty plea in connection to the murder of Joshua Oberg, 29.
Siron entered into a plea agreement to voluntary manslaughter and attempting to conceal a dead body in Upshur County court Wednesday. Judge Kurt W. Hall accepted the plea agreement in exchange for testimony and statements against Siron's co-defendants Jesse Lee Heater and Rodolpho Villagomez Correa.
Siron had previously been indicted for first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempting to conceal a dead body, and conspiracy. The charges not included in the plea agreement were dismissed.
Siron was sentenced to 15 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter and an additional one to five years for concealment.
Oberg was reported missing in January 2012. Siron told a confidential informant that he and Heater buried Oberg at a specific location in Upshur County, after killing him as part of a planned attack, according to the criminal complaint. On July 23, a body believed to be Oberg was found at a clandestine grave at that location.
