Mia Margherita officially opened its doors on Wednesday in Bridgeport.
Founder and partner Scott Duarte cut the ribbon to the coal fired pizzeria on Wednesday afternoon.
Mia Margherita offers Neapolitan style pizzas along with other Italian comfort foods.
The restaurant has been open since last Thursday and Duarte said the response has been positive so far.
"So far it's been great, a lot of great community support. We opened the doors last Thursday softly and it's been a great response. We're just happy to have the interest level and turn out some great product to get folks to come back," said Duarte.
Mia Margherita is located at Charles Pointe in Bridgeport.
A new coal-fired pizzeria in Bridgeport is just about ready to open.
Managers and employees with Mia Margherita, located in Charles Pointe, are finishing up preparations.
The restaurant offers moderately-priced Italian specialties, including Neapolitan-style pizza, sandwiches, salads, and more.
One manager said they're proud to be the first and only independent coal-fired pizzeria in the state.
"The idea was to bring in an authentic pizzeria that demonstrates the way pizza came to America back in 1905. It was in coal-fired ovens, it was a standard tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil pizza, which is called the Margherita pizza," said Scott Duarte, a Mia Margherita manager.
Mia Margherita's official ribbon cutting is December 11, but managers said they'll be open for business this weekend.
