Several local athletes are preparing for the chance of a lifetime, walking out onto Heinz Field in Pittsburgh as a Punt, Pass and Kick champion.
"Emily Riggs, Bridgeport Middle School"
"Mia Beto, Johnson Elementary"
These two girls are part of a Bridgeport trio that's advanced to the third round of the NFL's Punt, Pass and Kick competition.
Mia Beto, Lyda Sandy and Emily Riggs's journey started at the Harrison County competition in September. Now they will represent Bridgeport, and all of their section in Pittsburgh on Hines Field December 8th.
"I really like it, It's awesome, and it's cool that I get to go to a Pittsburgh Steelers game," said second grader Beto.
"Its really fun, just competing, getting known for it," said seventh grader Riggs.
Each NFL teams hosts a competition, the top four nationwide from each age group advances to the national completion.
"I won second at nationals two years ago, that was pretty big, but I'd like to get first this year," said Riggs.
At just 12 years old , Riggs can throw the ball nearly 50 yards. She has a great kick and punt to boot. Her skills took her to Atlanta in 2011 and perhaps can do it again in 2013.
"It's a proud moment, she tries to excel in everything she does," said Curt Riggs. "She doesn't like to lose, but she's a good sport, and she knows that in competition there always has to be a loser."
