Needy youngsters in Randolph and surrounding counties may have a cheerier Christmas through new toys from the annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and Marine Corps League Toys for Tots campaign.
Its underway now.
New and unwrapped toys may be placed until Dec. 18 in designated Toys for Tots collection boxes in Elkins, Buckhannon, and Weston.
The annual collection is spearheaded locally by Elkins' Marine Corps League, Leland D. "Crow" Crawford Detachment 956, in conjunction with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
There's several locations also Barbour, Tucker, Pocahontas, Greenbrier, and Harrison Counties. Toys may be placed in designated Toys for Tots collection boxes in Elkins at the three Dollar General Store, Big Lots, Aarons, Kmart, Walgreen Drug Store, CVS Pharmacy, and Skinner's Insurance.
In Buckhannon, you can drop-off toys at the two Dollar General Stores, the V.F.W., and American Legion, and Buckhannon Toyota right off of Route 33.
In Weston, at the Dollar General Store and H & M Motors. Families needing help with Toys for Tots may contact either of the two phones for help.
All families need to be pre-qualified as per DHHR income guidelines to receive any toys. Distribution will be by last name of the parents or guardian on designated days and time during the specified pick-up period.
The ages of the children that will be covered this year will be from 2-13. Distribution of all toys will be done at the Randolph County Airport. Families that have pre-qualified will need to arrange to have their toys picked up if they cannot do it themselves. To pick-up toys, the family member needs to bring proof of who there are to pick-up toys.
