Several communities around the area hosted holiday festivals on Saturday.
Nutter Fort hosted its inaugural holiday festival at the fire department.
The festival included games for kids, a craft show, food, and fireworks.
The Nutter Fort Holiday Festival also featured a beauty pageant with four winners.
This was the first festival and council members said it's a way to get the community together.
"We decided to have the festival in place of our Christmas parade and our tree lighting ceremony just to try to do something different and bring the community out during the day all day long instead of having just one event," explained Stephen Korn, a Nutter Fort City Council member.
Korn said city council hopes to make the Nutter Fort Holiday festival an annual event.
Jane Lew also hosted a festival on Saturday.
The Winter Berry Christmas Festival was held in the Jane Lew Community building.
It was the second annual festival and featured 13 vendors with different crafts and specialty items for sale.
All vendors were local and organizers said it's a good way to get started Christmas shopping early and find a variety of items.
"We have bottled lights which are hand crafted by someone from Weston, we have wreaths, candles, homemade soaps, we have all kinds of quilted items, just a wide variety of things," said Joyce Collins, the organizer of the event.
Collins said the organizers hope to move the event to a bigger space next year to accommodate more vendors.
