Harrison County Commission discussed affordable housing Thursday.
Joe Leighton presented his plan to build affordable housing in Harrison County.
Leighton proposed building one, two, and three bedroom townhouses, with income restrictions for residents.
Commission voted to back Leighton's proposal and wrote a letter of support.
"He's looking for support and endorsement and so on from the county commission and we feel that his program and not only him but anyone else who has that interest we would certainly support what they are doing," said Ron Watson, of the Harrison County Commission.
Leighton is considering a few locations in Clarksburg for the townhouses.
Some of these areas include downtown Clarksburg, Despard, and Northview.
Leighton is with RedClay Development of West Virginia and has built similar apartment complexes in other states.
