Superstorm Sandy inspired many changes in many county's emergency management offices.
Monongalia County used a $15,000 grant to purchase a shelter response trailer.
The trailer carries kits that would allow the Monongalia County's office of Emergency Management to deploy shelter supplies before a storm hits.
The kits contain various cots, blankets and other needed supplies.
"We learned from the 2010 snow storm when we were unable to access certain parts of the county that we would need to be able to provide pre-staged resources so we could insure that we are able provide those services," said Mike Wolfe, of MECCA 911.
The grant was awarded by the US department of homeland security.
