A Harrison County boy who has started his own initiative to help soldiers overseas got some help of from some of his bowling teammates.
Thanks to the Ben Hinkle Solider Gum Project, active duty military members have received thousands of packs of gum in the last four years.
On Saturday afternoon, supporters hit the lanes for "Bowling for Battle Buddies."
"I just started bowling on this team, so I thought It'd be cool to have something like this to raise money," said Hinkle.
"It's amazing, unbelievable that he was 6 years old and saw a pack of gum and said, 'I'm gonna send this to soldiers!' It can't get any better than that," said Specialist Christopher Crispen of the West Virginia National Guard.
The event raised enough to buy more than 500 packs of gum for soldiers overseas.
Ben and his team plan to send all of that and more, in time for the holidays.
