American Federation of Teachers Hosts Technology Workshops

Posted: Updated:

Teachers from around the state gathered in Morgantown on Friday to learn how teaching and technology are supporting each other.

Teachers attended workshops Friday at the Water Front Place Hotel to learn about a web-based program called "share my lesson." The Program allows teachers to share and receive lessons not only in the state, but from around the country.

President Christine Campbell, president of the West Virginia Chapter of the American Federation of Teachers, said there has been some concern about materials and resources in the classroom.

"Teachers can go onto the share my lesson website and upload their own lessons and download other people's lessons and those lessons are actually reviewed by teachers and created by teachers," said Campbell.

West Virginia House of Delegate Mike Caputo said " to see so many teachers get together and put an agenda to benefit the state of West Virginia together and move their union forward. The AFT is a great Organization that does a tremendous job representing their members and they care deeply about the children that they teach in the classroom everyday."

Campbell also said "Share My Lesson" is a great way for teachers to have resources in the classroom and develop new and exciting lessons for their students.
