A local hospital is offering help to keep your lungs healthy.
Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston is hosting a COPD Awareness Day at the Lewis County Senior Center. COPD is a set of diseases that hurt lung function.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, and will include an informational forum, and discussions with a doctor from the hospital.
Hospital staff said there are plenty of people in the area dealing with the disease who could use the help.
"Oftentimes, when a patient with chronic illness becomes short of breath, the shortness of breath controls them. We try to teach them techniques that will help them control their shortness of breath," said George Butcher, of Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital.
