2012-13 Record: 20-9
The Alderson Broaddus men are transitioning from a very good senior class last year. Seniors Kurklin Bohanon and Roy Brown, among others, accounted for double-digit scoring on a nightly basis one season ago.
However the Battlers welcome in a bunch of new players, both freshman and junior college transfers.
The key to ABU's season will be Devin Colston.
Colston arrived in Philippi this year after leading the nation in scoring at the Junior College level in Baltimore, Maryland.
The Battlers lost their season opener to Glenville State at Rex Pyles Arena last week.
But if you know Head Coach Greg Zimmerman, then you know the Battlers will be just fine.
"We did lose four of our top scorers from last year. We return five guys who did play double-figure minutes. They've got a little bit of experience in that. But they're all in different roles this year. I think what will be key is how well these new guys can score. That has been a little bit of a struggle sometimes in our preseason," ABU Head Coach Greg Zimmerman said.
"We got a couple of junior college players. Some older guys and some younger guys who are to have to step in and have some crucial minutes. We're not as deep as we usually are. But the guys are really coming in and buying in with the system," Battlers senior center Adam Kline said.
