This holiday season, several local businesses are coming together to help a Clarksburg family in need.
More than a dozen employees from Basement Systems of West Virginia have made it their mission to improve the basement of one Clarksburg family's home by drying out and waterproofing their basement.
Plans also include the installation of an emergency egress on the side of the home.
Volunteers said it's local residents that make all the hard work worth it in the end.
"I would love to see more businesses come out and donate their services to families in need. We feel that we're very fortunate, the community has been very good to us, and we just wanted to give back," said Ricki Edwardson of Basement Systems.
The Simpson Creek Baptist Church, Bridgeport United Methodist Church, Horizon's, and several other local businesses contributed to the cause. A local contractor is also volunteering to help.
Plans are in the works for renovations in the family's kitchen as well.
The basement renovations are slated to be finished by the end of the year.
