If you cast your ballot on Election Day, there’s a strong chance are you did it in a school or other public building. Schools and churches in the Mountain State are the most common locations for setting up polling places. And it’s been that way for a long time.

CHARLESTON, WV -

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and first lady Joanne Jaeger Tomblin are again honoring firemen, police officers and emergency medical service workers during the holiday season with a "First Responders Recognition" tree.

Anyone who wants to participate can send photos of their loved ones or friends who have served or are serving as first responders for West Virginia. The tree will be located in the Governor's Reception Room of the State Capitol.

"Whether serving our communities or our entire state, our first responders will answer the call to duty time and again, continually ensuring our safety, security and well being," Tomblin said. "I am grateful for the selfless service of our police officers, firemen and emergency medical service workers, and I am proud of all that they represent."

Tomblin said hundreds of families from throughout West Virginia submitted photos for the tree last year.

Visit www.governor.wv.gov to download the form and tag to submit photos. All photos must be submitted by Nov. 27 and they will not be returned.
