There's finally a new local dine-in steakhouse and its located in Upshur County.
Bennett's Steakhouse opened a couple of months ago. Its owners run buffet style restaurants in Elkins and Weston, but they wanted change it up a little for its new location.
"This has been quite a challenge and a experience for us to. So we're all learning together. But hopefully we're working out the knicks and things are getting better," said Barbara Bennett, owner.
"They didn't have an ordered, sit down as you go and have a good steakhouse. They wanted to try something different. So they found this location," said David Stephens, general manager.
Bennett's Steakhouse uses Black Angus steaks from ribeye's to new yorkers. If steak is not your thing there's other choices like chicken, pasta, fish and food for kids.
"We try to make it like a family come in and sit and eat. We have food for kids. Good price value, so we wanted to be a little something different, and have a price range that would fit everybody's budget," Stephens said.
People agree with the concept of choosing a sit down place versus drive thru.
"I thought it was a great idea. Because there's too many fast food. I'm not into the Mexican stuff, this is our second trip here, we came after church with a group of friends today," said Jackie Fultz of Buckhannon.
"It's good to a have place local, you don't have to go out of town now. A group of us sitting here enjoying a good meal. We appreciate it we like this," said Bill Fultz of Buckhannon.
Stephens hopes the need for a having a great steakhouse in the area will grow.
"Yes we're little outside of town, and its taking a little while for people to find us, and we're hoping this is going to help, 'Now we're here, come see us and enjoy a good meal," Stephens said.
The steakhouse has a sandwich called the goliath. Now if your really, really hungry there's also a 3 1/2 pound mega goliath, and if you eat it within 12 minutes you get a T-shirt, and if you break the record, the meal is free.
The steakhouse is located on Route 20 South in Tennerton. It's open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Sundays. Call 304-460-2515 for more information.
It will hold a grand ribbon cutting on Oct 8. It's planning to put together a goliath sandwich challenge between local police and fire departments in the county.
