WVU Hosts 66th Annual Mountaineer Week

West Virginia University kicked off the 66th Annual Mountaineer Week Friday, November 1 with a Craft Fair and Quilt Show in the Mountainlair.

The Craft Fair and Quilt Show will continue through Sunday, November 3. Sixty artisans from the state and surrounding area come together to show off their skills.

The theme this year is "West Virginia - 150 Years" to help celebrate the sesquicentennial of the state.

The university has a number of events planned for the week. Including, a photo contest of different areas around Morgantown.

Saturday, November 2 is Family Fun Day. Children will have the opportunity to enjoy fun games and prizes from noon to 5 p.m. in the Mountainlair. A horse and buggy ride will also be provided, if weather permits.

The week will be highlighted with the annual PRT cram on campus Monday, November 4.

There will also be a Walking Ghost Tour, November 4. The event starts at 7 p.m. at E. Moore Hall. The tour will continue throughout buildings on the downtown campus.

There is also a three-on-three basketball tournament with Bob Huggins happening at the Student Rec Center starting on November 5. Proceeds go to the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund.

The annual beard growing contest will take place at the Mountainlair on November 6 at noon. Jonathon Kimble, the Mountaineer Mascot, will host the event.

On November 8 the WVU community will have the chance to play wiffle ball with the basketball team at 1 p.m. on the Mountainlair Green.

The final event will happen on November 9 before the WVU vs. Texas game. Mountaineer Week will host the Student LOT, an event before every home football game. It's an alcohol-free environment for students. Fans are reminded to stripe the stadium for the game.

Mountaineer week will end on November 10.
