West Virginia State Police arrested two Terra Alta men and charged them with arson Thursday.

Christopher Williams, 19, and Joshua Casteel, 19, were arrested and each charged with first degree arson, third degree arson, and conspiracy.

State police said the arrests were made following an investigation conducted by Trooper First Class D.W. Simmons of the Kingwood Detachment of W.Va. State Police and State Fire Marshal Mackey Ayersman.

An investigation began after a vehicle fire was intentionally set at the Garden Towers in Kingwood on October 24, which destroyed a 2008 Toyota Tacoma, owned by Lisa Hyre, a local defense attorney in Preston County, and damaged the outside structure of the Garden Towers, according to state police.

The Kingwood Fire Department extinguished the fire quickly, which limited the damage done to the building, which contains multiple apartments and business offices, as well as the Preston County Public Defender's Office, state police said.
