The Miss West Virginia Teen USA and Miss West Virginia USA pageants were held in Braxton County on Sunday.
Crowds packed the Days Hotel conference center in Flatwoods to cheer on their friends and family members.
Contestants said it's a privilege to be involved in the pageant and they've made a lot of new friends in the process. American Idol 2010 Summer Concert tour performer Tim Urban was also in attendance.
"I like watching the transformation because you can see from the start of the weekend to the end some of the girls you see that they have more confidence. They come out of this and it's an experience that's changed them; it's kind of like American Idol for me," said former American Idol finalist Tim Urban.
"My platform I chose because in my high school there were a lot of people who use drugs and alcohol just to be popular. I don't like that because that's not fair; it gets you into bad stuff that you really don't need to be doing yet so that's a very important platform for me," said South Charleston Contestant Miranda Kalaskey.
Lexsey Marrara of Morgantown was crowned Miss West Virginia Teen USA and Charisse Haislop of Parkersburg was crowned Miss West Virginia USA.
