The Superintendent of Fairview Independent Schools Bill Musick confirmed the student-athlete under investigation was a member of the high school football team.

He also confirmed that former principal and athletic director Garry McPeek has resigned, as he'll be moved to a physical education teacher at the elementary school. He also resigned his position as a volunteer assistant coach.

As for Nate McPeek, he will continue to coach the program until the end of the season. After season's end he will resign.

A ruling from the Kentucky High School Athletic Association has yet to be sent down. However, Musick felt optimistic as of Monday afternoon that a postseason ban will not come down.

During a packed house school board meeting Monday evening at the high school some in the community felt uneasy with how the resignations were handled.

A local high school is being investigated by a state athletic association.

The superintendent with Fairview Independent School District, Bill Music, confirmed Friday morning there is an investigation underway by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.

Communications Director for the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, Joe Angolia, said Friday morning the association is aware of an investigation but would offer no further comments as to the specifics. Angolia did confirm the investigation is over the eligibility of one student athlete.

Angolia stated findings of the investigation might be presented at the next Fairview Independent Board of Education meeting.

According to the website the KHSAA "is a private non-profit organization and operates within Internal Revenue Service code 501 (c) 3 as an independent entity. The Association gets its authority to manage interscholastic athletics from the Kentucky Board of Education through 702 KAR 7:065, an enabling and restricting regulation which affects the makeup of the organization."
