The Public Service Commission of West Virginia is listening to people complain about their electric bills.
The commission held a public hearing in Fairmont Thursday evening.
It had launched an investigation into the meter reading practices of Mon Power and Potomac Edison earlier this year.
Customers have complained about getting low estimates on their monthly bills and then getting much higher actual readings when it comes time to pay.
"This week the commission is going around the service territory of those companies to hear first hand from customers what kinds of experiences they're having what the problems are and any solutions they have to suggest," said Susan Small, communications director.
A customer service area was set up to help answer any questions.
The next public comment hearing will be held Friday morning at the West Chester Village in Fairmont at 9:30 a.m.
Mon Power has announced it will hold a series of public hearings after the Public Service Commission of West Virginia announced its investigation into the meter reading, billing, and customer service practices of the FirstEnergy Corp. subsidiaries after receiving numerous customer complaints.
AARP West Virginia is encouraging Mon Power and Potomac Edison customers to share their concerns.
Two of those meetings will be held in Fairmont on Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25.
