A local hospital is keeping its community's health at the forefront this month.
Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital has been spending October hosting many events in Lewis County.
The hospital's annual golf tournament and breast cancer awareness luncheon was earlier this week.
Hospital staff said working to cure the disease is especially important in Lewis County.
"Lewis County has the second-highest rate of breast cancer in the state, and it's of great concern to all of us in health care. And we're trying to figure out how do we tackle this gigantic problem," said Julia Spelsberg, of Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The hospital's next big event will be a children's safety fair next weekend.
