Jackson's Mill is keeping the Appalachian tradition alive this week.
The Mill is hosting the annual Storytelling Festival.
Four of the best storytellers in the state were talking with students from area elementary schools.
Storyteller and West Virginia Poet Laureate Marc Harshman said he wants to share his stories with kids and adults so they'll share their own stories.
"This is not something that has to disappear. It's as available as our voices. We simply need to make sure that we reclaim some quiet time in our lives when we can tell each other our stories," said Harshman.
The festival continues Thursday with four more schools taking part.
