Harvest Festival and Antique Fair Held at Pricketts Fort State Park

Posted: Updated:

Pricketts Fort State Park hosted its Harvest Festival and Antique Fair on both Saturday and Sunday.

It was the 10th year for the festival that included live music, broom making demonstrations, an antique sale, and blacksmith demonstrations.

Guests could also learn about harvest time on the frontier and the activities necessary to prepare for the upcoming winter season.

"Our farmer here will talk about that, getting the gardens finished up and the fields being finished and what they did with that at the end of the year. You'll see candle dipping and soap making as well," said Greg Bray, the executive director of Pricketts Fort State Park.

Some of the demonstrations included the harvesting of beans, corn, pumpkins, and more.

There were also some kids' activities where they made corn husk dolls.

Food was also being made at the fort. Guests were shown how to make sauerkraut, jerky, and hominy.

Bray said there were over 400 people at the festival this weekend, and that events like these always bring in a lot of new guests who haven't visited before.
