West Virginia Junior College held its Associate Degree of Nursing Inaugural Pinning Ceremony for registered nurses on Saturday.
Seventeen nurses were pinned at the Metropolitan Theatre in Morgantown.
The group took their Florence Nightingale Pledge, a Hippocratic Oath after two years of schooling.
The nurses make the oath:
"I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly, to pass my life in purity and practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care."
The graduates thanked all of the past and current West Virginia Junior College nursing faculty, clinical instructors, and clinical preceptors that have taken part in their nursing education.
They also thanked Sundale Nursing Home, HealthSouth, MountainView Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, Mon General Hospital, and WVU Healthcare for being part of their clinical experience.
