UDPATE: Victim's name released after deadly shooting

Developing details into a car jacking turned violent, 59News Reporter Lauren Hensley went to where it all happened in Raleigh County and spoke with neighbors about this night of violence.

Three days after a deadly carjacking in Raleigh County the police tape is still up and a community is still in shock.

"We heard all the ambulances go by you can hear all the sirens because they echo in this holler real well," Michael Small, a neighbor who lives right next to where the car jacking happened.

Neighbor Michael Small says his family knew the victim. The victim has been identified as 77-year-old Johnny Condia of Dameron.  Deputies say 29-year-old Mickey Daniel Jr. of Edwight has bee arrested for the murder.

There is an orange rectangle still painted on the road where the car was high-jacked. Neighbors said  there is a prescription pill problem in the area, but they said it has never lead to this kind of violence.

59News Reporter Lauren Hensley asked, is there a drug problem in this area?

Michael Small said, "Just isolated incidents I would say not much really. Not a whole lot of big incidents that I've known of."

59News has learned from neighbors Condia worked as a contractor and had a son with his wife who died a few years ago.

The Raleigh County Sheriffs Department is investigating the murder and it is unclear at this time if drugs played a role in this night of violence.




The shooting victim has been identified as 77-year-old Johnny Nile Condia of Dameron, WV.  Deputies say 29-year-old Mickey Roger Daniel Jr. of Edwight has bee arrested for the murder.

NEW INFORMATION:  A press release sent to 59News from the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department confirms that the shooting victim has died.  Deputies say the victim was found laying in the road.  The release says the victim reported that his car was taken away after the shooting.

Deputies have located the car that was stolen and it is being processed for evidence.

Deputies say the victim's name isn't being released until his family has been notified.

The suspect's location still remains unknown as of late Saturday morning.



59News has learned that the victim is a male and that he was taken to Raleigh General Hospital.  There is no word on his condition right now.

Deputies say they're searching for a 2005 blueish-green Toyota Corolla with the following license plate: DTWEETY.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department.


Raleigh County deputies are investigating after a shooting happened following a carjacking.

Deputies were called to the scene in the Arnett area on Saxon Bolt Road around 6:30 p.m. Friday.

An ambulance was called to the scene.
