An Alderson Broaddus University professor has received a big grant for cancer research.
Dr. Yi Charlie Chen was awarded a $100,000 grant from the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.
Chen is researching ways to use nanotechnology to attack cancer cells, leaving the good cells intact.
He hopes that the research will play a big role in one day curing the disease.
"We're hopeful that the result we get from this grant will help contribute to our understanding of the cancer biology," Chen said.
Chen said the grant will also provide an opportunity for students to gain practical experience in research.
