Many people debate what to do with the Waldo Hotel in Clarksburg. On Tuesday evening, a group that wants to preserve the Waldo held an informative meeting.
The Waldo Hotel Preservation Society hosted two experts on restoring old buildings at the Waldomore.
Steve Coon of Coon Restoration and Sealant and Peter Ketter, an architect, toured the Waldo and spoke about the advantages of restoration and preservation.
They also spoke about ways to fund restoration.
Coon said the Waldo is a perfect building to revive.
"This thing is an architectural gem. You walk through and it just wows you. To stay in a regular hotel you don't get any of this, those other hotels are anywhere USA and this is wow over the top," explained Coon.
Martin Shaffer is the president of the Waldo Hotel Preservation Society and said he hopes the Waldo will be restored as a hotel.
"People like to drive to historic hotels and they pay a premium price to stay at historic hotels," said Shaffer.
Coon and Ketter showed pictures of similar historic buildings that they have worked on with before and after pictures.
