County officials in Upshur County are looking into how to utilize the current building that houses the National Guard Armory in Tennerton before the armory moves into its new location.
The new armory off Brushy Fork Road is currently under construction.
Once the move happens, the current building will be left empty, but development authority officials would like to see the building made into a facility for recreational purposes.
There's also discussion for the facility to be used for commercial purposes as well.
"So the question is what do you do with that facility. It was built in the late 50s early 60s. It's a substantial structure. It's still in very good shape. It has a lot of potential for whole host of different things," said Stephen Foster, of Upshur County Development Authority.
The new armory is scheduled to be finished next year.
