    The West Virginia Autism Training Center is expanding its reach in the state. WV ATC, located at Marshall University in Huntington, has partnered with Concord University to develop on-campus support in Athens for students who are diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.

    The West Virginia Child Advocacy Network and West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence are getting help from Verizon's HopeLine program to help those affected by domestic violence and child abuse.

    The West Virginia Child Advocacy Network and West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence are getting help from Verizon's HopeLine program to help those affected by domestic violence and child abuse.

Morgantown will be the host of a variety of activities over the next several days, including world- class musicians, outdoors events, festivals, runs and walks and even a tattoo expo, according to the Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

Some of the events will include:

  • The West Virginia Water Festival from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Oct. 5 at Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront park.
  • The 2013 Walk to End Alzheimer's North Central West Virginia walk will begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 6 with participants starting at West Virginia University's Coliseum and walking through the Evansdale Campus.
  • Mountain Stage will be at the WVU Creative Arts Center at 7 p.m. Oct. 6, featuring Ashley Monroe, Jesse Winchester, the John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band and Scott Miller with Ryna Gellert and Bombadil.
  • The West Virginia RV and Boat Show will take place from 2-8 p.m. Oct. 11 at Mylan Park Expo Center.
  • The first-ever West Virginia Tattoo Expo will be from 2-10 p.m. Oct. 11 at Morgantown Event Center Waterfront.
  • The sixth annual West Virginia Chestnut Festival will take place all day Oct. 13 at Rowlesburg Park.
