UPDATE: Moment of Silence Held in Memory of Sydney Rush Before Clay-Battelle Football Game

Posted: Updated:

On Monday night, the Blacksville community honored Sydney Rush's memory with a moment of silence before the Clay-Battelle High School's football game.

Valley-Wetzel football players released balloons in her honor during a brief pre-game ceremony.

Dylan Jeffries, the South Harrison High School football player who died after injuries he sustained during a game, was also honored in Blacksville.

Original Story:

Clay-Battelle High School has decided to postpone its Homecoming football game on Friday, October 5 following the fatal car accident involving a student earlier in the week.

Instead, the Cee-Bees will now play on Monday, October 7 at 7 p.m.

Clay-Battelle junior Sydney Rush was involved in a single vehicle accident on Monday night, striking a tree. She was announced dead at the scene.

Rush was a cheerleader and a track star for the CeeBees. All of Clay-Battelle's athletic activities have been canceled for the week.

The CeeBees were originally supposed to play Valley Wetzel on Friday night. The Lumberjacks will now make the trip to Blacksville for the only week six game on Monday night.
