Tygart Lake State Park is one of the top tourist destinations in the state.
Whether you're looking for a day on the lake, a place to camp, or a room during a business trip, Tygart Lake has you covered.
The beautiful scenery, calm waters, and cozy lodge are just a few things that keep tourists coming back year after year.
The park recently announced it will stay open year round instead of just eight months out of the year.
"The tradition was to close December 31 with a New Year's Eve Party and we were closed until mid April. We went through a year's study and the park administration decided based on the self sufficiency records, they decided we could stay open year round," said Jim Browning, Tygart Lake State Park Assistant Superintendent.
The Tygart Lake staff said it's already seeing an increase in reservations through that time period.
People who go to the park during the winter will have plenty to take advantage of.
"We'll have a cabin available year round as well. Our campground will be closed but the rest of the park will be open plus our restaurant stays open year round," Browning said.
The staff said the park is offering special rates if they are booked online.
