A WVU student has secured the 2013 championship in a NASCAR stepping stone series.
This summer during the 12Sports Track Pass we met WVU student Travis Braden.
The 19-year-old Wheeling native clinched the Arca/Cra Super Series Sunday, September 22 after he won his fourth race of the year at the T. J. Racing Lubricants 100 at Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana.
Braden took the lead on lap 86 and never looked back.
A year ago Braden took the series by storm when he won the rookie of the year award.
Braden's title is just the latest in a successful career. When asked about next year Braden didn't have any answers but said he hopes in the next few seasons to have shots at NASCAR's Camping World Truck Series or the Nationwide series.
"If you can continue winning, like I've done in this series than you want to move on to the next level and see if you can win there. The ultimate goal in the long run is to get to the get to the cup series, the Sprint Cup series. I feel like I'll be a good enough driver to do it, but that's the fun thing about racing, until you get there you don't know," said Braden.
