A Monongalia County shooting range will reopen this weekend after being closed for more than a year.
The range at the Pedlar Wildlife Management Area is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday from 9 a.m. until sunset and Sunday from noon until sunset. The range will be closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The range closed a year ago last May to address vandalism and littering issues.
"The range was temporarily closed May 10, 2012, to allow our agency to evaluate and address vandalism and littering issues that were occurring at the Pedlar WMA shooting range," said Frank Jezioro, director of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. "To effectively address these problems, we will have increased law enforcement patrols by Natural Resources Police Officers and plan to strictly enforce all shooting range regulations posted at the facility. In addition, modifications have been made to the shooting range to further deter any unsafe use."
It's located near Mason Lake, just outside of Core. For more information, call 304-825-6787.
