The Marion County Health Department said it has received reports of several confirmed cases of flu-like symptoms.
It said flu shots are available at the department for $25 and that it will extend its hours and will provide a weekly vaccination clinic on Wednesdays.
Flu season typically runs October until May. The health department said January is one of the worst months in West Virginia.
"Once you have your flu vaccine it takes a minimum of two weeks to become completely protected against the viruses that are in the vaccine," said Donna Riffle, of the Marion County Health Department.
The weekly vaccination clinics will be open every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
