The Davis House in Elkins is celebrating one year of service. It held an open house Friday with tours and refreshments.
The David House provides respite, free of charge, to patients receiving treatment at Davis Memorial Hospital's Cancer Care Center.
It said it helped 13 patients and their families during its first year.
"This just provided them a measure of security and convenience that are people just didn't have before. So rather than have someone driving an hour and half, or two hours or more to come for treatments, and then the same distance home again, and repeat that process the following day. This gives them a chance to recuperate and rest between treatments," said Dan Butcher, of the Davis Health System Foundation.
The Davis House has six patient rooms with private baths, kitchens, and sitting areas.
